You can manage SQDR running on a remote machine by selecting Add Server from the Service menu and entering the hostname or IP address of the remote system; default port is 7737. You will also need to supply User and Password if Role Based Access Control (RBAC) is enabled on the remote system.
You can also specify a Friendly Name (i.e. a name other than the hostname or IP address); this name will appear in the server list in the left column.
Use the Test button to verify connectivity. If a firewall is enabled on the remote system, be sure that it allows connections to the 2 listening ports (default 7737 and 7738).
You can remove servers from the Data Replicator Manager by selecting the server and either selecting Remove Server from the Service menu, or select the server, right-click, and choose Remove Server.
After adding a remote server, the icon will display the status of the service. Connect to it by double-clicking on the service icon or by choosing the icon and selecting Connect to Service from the Service menu or the context-sensitive drop-down menu when you right-click on the service icon. You will now see the full details of the remote SQDR system.
You can examine the product version and other information about the service being managed in the Service Tab of Service Properties.
To reduce network traffic and system load when using the Data Replicator Manager to manage many active systems, select Disconnect Service for systems that you are not currently actively managing.
To manage remote SQDR systems from a workstation that is not running the SQDR service, StarQuest supplies a special installer that contains only the Data Replicator Manager application and its dependencies. Do not use this installer on a system where the full SQDR product is installed.
You must have network connectivity to the remote system.
We recommend that the remote server use a static IP address.
The firewall of the remote system must allow connections to the gRPC listening ports (default 7737 and 7738) or to the SQDR service application (C:\Program Files\StarQuest\SQDR\sqdrsvc.exe) from your workstation.
If Role Based Access Control (RBAC) is enabled on the remote system, enter the credentials (user and password) of a user that is a member of a group defined with a sufficient group role for the required tasks.
Interoperability: Use the same major version of Manager as the version of the Service (e.g. use Manager 6.3x to connect to Service 6.3x). Note that v6.x of the Manager cannot connect to v5.x of the Service and vice versa.
Service control
Selecting Start Service for a remote server may not function.
To start and stop the service remotely using the Windows sc command or PowerShell commands such Start-Service, or
Log on to your local workstation (or run the drmgr application) as a domain user; this user does not need to be a member of the local Administrators group on the local workstation. but it must be a member of the Administrators group on the remote system. Alternatively, you can use a domain administrator account.
On the firewall of the remote system, enable the three pre-defined rules for Remote Service Management (NP-In, RPC, and RPC-EPMAP).
