Replay Updates is used to avoid new baselines in disaster recovery scenarios by replaying incremental changes after the destination table is recovered from a backup.
Example:
Configure the pruneRetention parameter of the SQDR Plus Agent to a non-zero value. This value is specified in hours. Consider the overhead of the amount of data that must be saved, as this results in increased storage requirements in the control database of the SQDR Plus Staging Agent; at some point, it may be better to perform a new baseline. For this example, we will specify 24 (hours).
Create an incremental subscription of a large table. The initial baseline may take a long time to complete.
Set up a backup schedule for the destination; for this example, the backup will run nightly at midnight, and the group is paused during updates to avoid updates while the backup is occurring.
During daily operations, the destination database fails.
Pause the incremental group and recover the destination database from the previous night's backup.
Select Replay Updates.
In the Set Replay Position dialog, select a timestamp of 0:00 (midnight) and select OK. The incremental changes made between midnight and the current time are re-applied and the destination database will now be up to date.
Resume Updates.
If you have a large number of incremental groups, you can replay all groups associated with a particular source or destination by selecting the desired source or destination and choosing Replay.
