Setting Up Email Notifications

The Data Replicator provides a Notification feature to help keep an administrator informed of the status of subscriptions. The notifications are sent to an email address to indicate the status of groups of subscriptions (although a group can contain only one subscription, in which case the notification would indicate the status of that subscription). An error or warning from a group indicates that one or more of the subscriptions in the group encountered an error or a warning. You also can have notifications sent for successful completion of a group or when an incremental group encounters errors polling the source for changes, depending on which types of messages are selected in the Notification properties.

For example, if the notification message type is Errors and Warnings the SQDR Service will send an email notification to the specified recipient if any group contains a subscription that encounters an error or warning. The administrator can then use the Replicator Manager to further investigate the problem and correct it so the replication operation can complete successfully.
