Installing StarPipes

To install StarPipes, execute the Setup.exe program from the installation image. To install the StarPipes Management Console, you need Administrator level privileges on the computer where StarPipes is installed.

Important Note

If you are upgrading from StarPipes v2.20 or earlier you must remove the older version before you install this version of the StarPipes software. Record your current configuration before you remove the previous version of StarPipes, and then select Uninstall StarPipes for Windows NT from the StarPipes program group menu.

If you are upgrading from StarPipes 3.11 or earlier, your configuration will be replaced during the update; record your current configuration before running the update.

If you are replacing a 32-bit version of StarPipes with the 64-bit version, you must remove the 32-bit version first; record your current configuration before running the update.

During the installation, you are given the option to install the full StarPipes for Windows product or only the StarPipes Management Utilities. Select the Complete setup type unless you only want to manage StarPipes remotely from this computer, in which case you can select the Custom setup option to install only the StarPipes Management Utilities.

The installation Wizard also prompts you to specify which SNA connectivity method you will be using. The choices are:

Select "None" if you are using TCP/IP passthrough. Otherwise, select one of the SNA connectivity methods. Note that you cannot change the connectivity method without re-installing StarPipes.

If you choose an SNA server it should already be configured for LU 6.2 (APPC) connectivity to your host. See the topics Setting Up Microsoft Host Integration Server or Setting up IBM Communications Server for additional information.
