The StarAdmin utility is used to bind StarSQL driver packages on a DB2 host database. A StarAdmin user must have sufficient rights to create collections and bind packages, tasks which are typically performed by a Database Administrator ("DBA"), host administrator ("Security Officer"), or other privileged user.
It is a standalone application which must have TCP/IP access to a host database that is configured to accept remote commands using the Distributed Relational Database Architecture (DRDA) protocol. See System Requirements below for a list of supported platforms.
Note that StarAdmin is available either as a standalone installer or as part of the Tools subfolder of an SQDR Plus installation; there is no need to install the StarAdmin package on a system where SQDR Plus has been installed.
The following topics are addressed in these Release Notes. Refer to the Binding StarSQL Packages Using StarAdmin tech note (Quick Start Guide) for detailed information about installing StarAdmin for the first time, and refer to the StarAdmin online documentation for detailed information about using StarAdmin.
None.
You can install and run StarAdmin on computers with the following operating systems.
StarAdmin for Windows requires Visual C++ 2017/2019 runtimes.
