How to Enable ODBC Connection Pooling

Abstract

This document explains how to enable and configure ODBC connection pooling for use with Microsoft Transaction Server and Internet Information Server.

Solution

To enable connection pooling, you must set the ODBC Connection Pooling Attributes for StarSQL.

  1. Launch the ODBC Data Source Administrator (typically found in Control Panel, Administrative Tools).
  2. Under the Connection Pooling tab, double-click on the StarSQL 32 or StarSQL (64-bit) entry.
  3. Enable connection pooling by selecting the 'Pool Connections to this driver' radio button.
  4. Set the timeout value for the idle connections.
  5. Click OK to save the changes and exit the dialog.
  6. Click OK once more to close the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
