You specify which source object you want to replicate when you add a subscription or view the Source tab properties for an existing subscription.
Note that, if you display the properties for an existing subscription and click OK, the subscription is dropped and re-added, which runs a baseline replication. Click Cancel instead of OK to dismiss the properties dialog if you have not made changes to the subscription and do not want to run another baseline.
If the source system is enabled with SQDR Plus you can select whether you want the subscription to perform Snapshot or Incremental replications. Without SQDR Plus you can perform only Snapshot replication operations.
You cannot change the Replication Type option after the subscription or a new group has been saved.
The fields in the Source Filter area of the dialog let you shorten the list of object names that are transmitted across the network for display in the Source Objects list. Enable the Allow Mixed-Case Input if you want the Schema and Name that you enter for the filter to be case-sensitive. If the Allow Mixed-Case Input option is disabled (unchecked), which is the default setting, text that is entered for the Schema and Name is forced to uppercase letters for transmittal to the database. Only the source objects that match the names and case specified by the filter are returned to the Source Objects list when the list is populated.
Click the Refresh button to send a request to the source server for a list of object names that match the Database, Object Schema, and Object Name fields. You can enter a complete object schema or use the "%" wildcard character alone or with a partial name string. For a Db2 source, specify either the % wildcard or a full schema or object name.
You cannot change the source database after an incremental replication subscription or group is saved.
After you enter the Object Schema and Name values, click Refresh to display the list of source objects. The Source Objects area lists the objects so you can select which to replicate. The user account that is used to connect to the source may need permission to the object for it to appear in the list.
Supported object types that can appear in the Source Objects list are TABLE, VIEW, ALIAS, and SYNONYM. (Other object types, such as AUXILIARY TABLES, are not currently supported for replication operations.)
Note that you can create multiple subscriptions at once by using the SHIFT-click or CTRL-click techniques to select more than one source object to replicate. Review Creating Multiple Subscriptions from the Same Source to understand the differences in subscriptions that are created at one time.
When you are creating a new subscription you also can use the Export and Import functions to change the list of source objects. After you Export source object names you can manipulate the list with a text editor or spreadsheet application so you can import the modified list. See Importing and Exporting Source Objects for details.
If you change the source object(s) after a subscription has been saved, rebuild the column list to reflect the columns of the new source object(s) before you save the modified subscription.
This option appears if the selected source is a Db2 for i database and the AS/400 Multi Member File Access option is enabled for it in the Advanced Source Properties.
To perform incremental replication from a multi-member file, you must enable the multiMember property in the SQDR Plus configuration (default is enabled).
If you select a single file, you can choose either *ALL or an individual member from the Select a Member to Replicate dropdown field.
If you select multiple files, you can choose either *FIRST or *ALL.
If you select a regular SQL table to replicate rather than a multi-member physical file, the Select a Member to Replicate field displays the name of the source table.
When your subscription includes multiple members, the Subscription Summary will show the generated destination table names, which will be of the form FILE_MEMBER.
